I’m Anastasija, a person driven by a passion for making a positive impact on the world. Growing up in a small town in Eastern Europe and then moving to London three years ago opened my eyes to how diverse the world is, yet how similar the challenges faced by vulnerable people can be.

From a young age, I’ve always been a helper—kind, empathetic, and committed to putting others first. Having a father who struggled with addiction for much of his life has deeply shaped my perspective. It taught me the importance of offering non-judgmental and equal support to everyone in need, as I understand how difficult it can be to care for someone battling addiction, and what it’s like to be that person.

At 16, I decided to channel my experiences and compassionate nature into something meaningful. I set my sights on moving to London and pursuing a degree in social work—a goal I worked tirelessly to achieve. Now, three years later, I proudly hold a First-Class Honours Degree in Social Work and am eager to delve deeper into addiction psychology, not just through theories but by listening to and learning from people’s unique stories. Every person has a story, and I find immense value in understanding each one, as no two are the same.

Tragically, three months ago, I lost a close friend to an overdose. This profound loss has only strengthened my resolve. While I couldn’t save him, I know that my work can make a difference for others. His memory motivates me daily to keep pushing forward, no matter how challenging the journey may be.

I’m excited about the opportunity to work with BoB and believe that this experience will be invaluable for both my professional development in social care and my personal growth. Working with people has always been my passion, and I’m confident that contributing to an organisation like BoB will help me make a lasting impact while continuing to learn and evolve.
