Friends of BoB Intro - Friends of BoB 'When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.' Please sign up here to become a ‘Friend of BoB’ – and help us build a stronger recovery community together. Sign up We all know that friends are there for each other; they do things for each other. BoB was founded on that spirit of ‘mutual aid’ – because we believe that anyone, with the right support, can find a new sense of purpose beyond addiction. ‘Friends of BoB’ are people who want to help with that – they are people interested in the work BoB does, in the people who come through our door, and want to try and help in any way they can. Maybe you have a relative in recovery, or you’re a local business that cares about your community, or you’re just someone who cares – and wants to channel that energy into helping people. Our ‘Friends’ help us provide support that otherwise wouldn’t be there – for a group of people who often don’t have the support networks to fall back on that many of us take for granted. It’s a way for us to build a stronger community together. Because substance use difficulties can affect people from every walk of life and every community across the country. That’s why recovery communities like BoB are so important – and why we believe they should be at the heart of every local community, where we can all come together to help each other. By becoming a ‘Friend of BoB’ you can help us do exactly that. There are a number of ways to help us reach more people and strengthen the recovery community, including: Donating – fundraise for us, donate some money, or dig out those odds and ends in your garage like musical instruments! Giving time – volunteer your time at a centre, or help organise events for us. Providing expertise – give support in kind by sharing your skills, whether that’s cooking, gardening or a putting your musical talents to good use. Lend your voice – on social media, at your place of work, to help us spread the word and achieve change. In return, we’ll keep you up to date on the impact your help is having and invite you to events we’re holding. So however you think you can help – or if you aren’t sure how but know you want to hear more – please do get in touch. We are the friendliest bunch of people, and we can find a place for everyone with BoB – after all, that’s what we’ve been doing for years! So please click the sign up button at the top or below to become a ‘Friend of BoB’ – and help us build a stronger recovery community together. Sign up FoB Events The pandemic has been particularly hard on the people who use BoB, and the closure of our services twice in a year mean we have lost contact with many. Over Xmas and New Year, a particularly difficult time of year, we organised a series of ‘reconnection’ events in each of our services. To that end we met for a 'Reconnecting walk' around Kensington Gardens, to bring friends old and new together, and we raised almost £10,000 to fund our Connection at Christmas. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the walk and/or made a donation towards Build on Belief. Your support is gratefully received and will have a positive impact on individuals and the community. Please stay in touch, more events will come up soon!
