  1. Where to find us

Kensington and Chelsea: Sports and Leisure Services

'Use what talents you possess. The wood would be silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.'

Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Kensington Leisure Centre: Silchester Road, North Kensington, London W10 6EX

Harrow Club: 187 Freston Road, North Kensington, London W10 6HT

What we do

The badminton club on a Wednesday is where we began our adventures in the world of peer-led projects, and has been running since April 2005. The link between physical exercise and mental well-being has long been established, for exercise helps to boost the bodies production of endorphins, natures very own feel good chemicals! This is of particular value to anyone in recovery who suffers from low moods or depression.

Don't hold back from accessing our sporting services because you have reservations about your fitness levels, or have never played badminton or used a gym before. These services are designed for, and run by people who have had difficulties with their substance use, and we have many years practice at supporting people into taking part at their own pace. Games of badminton, often doubles, are organised according to the ability of those playing, so don't feel shy if you are a beginner!

Inductions can be arranged for people using the gym for the first time with the professional gym instructors at the sports centre, and they will be happy not only to show you how to use the equipment properly, but will also design a fitness programme based on what you want to achieve. Even if it's a simple as losing a little weight, or improving your fitness levels just a small amount, they can help.

For those who wish to use the gym more frequently than once a week, we can support you to obtain discount leisure cards, which will allow you to use the gym at other times and at a reduced rate.

For those who would prefer to swim rather than use the gym, there is a pool available at the same time as the gym club detailed below. You will need to bring your own swimming costume and towel.

You are advised to wear loose fitting clothes and trainers. All other equipment is provided. The badminton club runs every Wednesday and Sunday. The Gym and Swim Club runs every Saturday, and again we recommend wearing loose clothing and trainers. See the timetable below for details.

WEDNESDAY BADMINTON CLUB 3.00pm - 5.00pm Harrow Club
SATURDAY GYM AND SWIM CLUB 9.00am - 12.30pm Kensington Leisure Centre
SUNDAY  BADMINTON CLUB 12.00pm - 2.00pm Harrow Club
