Where to find us Harrow - Bentley House 'Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance through interaction with other people and what they do in the world.' ― adapted from Brené Brown h Bentley House, 15–21 Headstone Drive, Harrow, London, HA3 5QX Our Social Prescriber at Bentley House is Stuart Angus. As a Social Prescriber, he works with adult service users with mental health and connects them with other people, activities and services in the community. He approaches his work with a ‘person centred attitude’ which is about listening carefully to and appreciating what Service Users themselves feel would most benefit them to improve their social and mental health. Based on the service users ideas and sense of what they would like to engage in, Stuart researches what is available in the community that best fits these interests and requirements and connects people to around 50 organisations in Harrow and around London, so that service users are able to gain access to new opportunities, cultivate and develop purpose through hobbies, and get involved in activities that enable them to integrate and participate in the community and society. Working alongside dedicated psychotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists at Bentley House, he provides service users with support, structure and care. Stuart has also joined up with BoB Peer Support Workers at Northwick Park Hospital to collaborate in creating a safe space for people with mental health to meet on Wednesdays; this Drop-In is a time during with service users can be involved in activities like Arts & Crafts, Mindfulness, Games and Gardening, and socialise with peers in an inclusive and friendly environment. Stuart also connects Bentley House service users with BoB’s Online Programme. This provides the flexibility to connect with other people and activities from home, which is important for some service users. On Tuesdays at 6pm and Sundays at 11am, Stuart facilitates Mindfulness classes on our Online Programme. This presents participants with the opportunity to practise integrating mindfulness into their lives, which can reduce stress and enhance well-being through the healing powers of awareness. “I enjoy attending the Wednesday drop-in, and I would like if there were more drop-in sessions during the week like the Wednesdays drop-in. I enjoy the atmosphere, activities and people there. I feel supported and not judged”. D. 30yo “I have a sense of being busy, have a place to go. Additionally I am meeting people and I feel less lonely and I am learning something new”.
