Mental Health Support Worker in Harrow

Hi,

I’ve worked in administration jobs in the public sector as a civil servant and in the NHS doing admin jobs at various times as well as previously working in mental health as a Healthcare Support Worker.

In the past I have also worked for a company that helped people find work or gain qualifications through further education running Restart and Workwise courses as a course tutor.

I started going to Build on Belief after someone I knew through a community art project for homeless and vulnerable people told me about Acorn Hall.

I had been homeless and living in sheltered accommodation before getting a bedsit where I know live.

I initially just went for the food packages, but gradually started to get to know more people and thought about putting something back into the service that had so helped me when I was feeling isolated and depressed.

I was diagnosed with depression during the early 90’s by my GP, when I thought my low moods and lack of energy were symptoms of the flu.

I have made many new friends through Build on Belief, volunteers and service users.

It is because of the volunteer work I did at Build on Belief and contacts made at Turning Point that I have been able to get new qualifications and a newfound confidence in my abilities and what I can achieve and how I can inspire and help others to go into education training as well as help people in recovery aim to have a positive focus in their lives to see their own potential self-worth and work towards achieving whatever they set their sights on.

I am a Leeds Utd fan.

Please don’t hold that against me.
