Lead Manager for the Social Club at Newham

Hello everyone,

My name is Tracey Mason and I am the Lead Manager at our social club in Newham.

I got introduced to Bob through a family friend, at the time I was a caring for my mother and I've been made redundant and I had some spare time at the weekend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, it was a pleasure to give back to the community and help with the food bank at Acorn Hall. I enjoyed it so much it made me change my path and I decided I didn't want to go back to working in the catering world and I wanted to give back to my community.

After my mother passed away I was more determined than ever not to work within the pub and restaurant industry and I was lucky enough to apply for a position with BoB at the Newham hub. I won’t lie it can be very challenging helping people that are vulnerable, disadvantaged and homeless with alcohol and addiction problems. I am learning a lot. It is a steep learning curve and sometimes I find it bittersweet but even after a tough day I come in on a Sunday see my volunteers and regular clients and it is just a joy to lift their spirits when they are facing the hardest battles in their life.
