'Growth takes time. Be patient. And while you're waiting, pull a weed.'

Growing thing is one of the oldest of human occupations. We were messing about with plants, long before we developed written languages.

There can be a real sense of satisfaction in watching some you have planted slowly grow, as you nurture it along the way with green fingers and a little TLC. A gentle hobby, especially in the sunshine, gardening can be a wonderful way of whiling away an hour or to in the company of your peers.

For many of us living in London, piled high in boxy little flats, the idea of gardening can be a distant dream, Well, no more!

We are lucky enough to have four services with outside spaces. Hammersmith and Fulham and Newham both have courtyards with cosy little gardens where you can sit in the sunshine and natter away with staff, volunteers and your peers. Hillingdon and Barking and Dagenham have full size gardens where we are involved in major renovation projects to create beautiful and welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy at the weekends.

If you fancy learning to garden, want a chance to practice old skills, or are willing to help us transform some of the outside spaces available to us, why not click on the links above and choose a project to visit. You will be welcomed with open arms.

If you are a little nervous about your first visit, or would like a meet and greet, please feel free to speak to one of the service managers for the project you have chosen. You can find their contact details by clicking on the links on the project page.
